... a system for mapping of rivers, lakes and their borderlines

  • Coordinates are measured by an electronic tachymeter, which automatically pursues the target.
  • Borderlines and shallow water is surveyed traditionally by using a prism stick.
  • In deeper water levels, echosoundings with high accuracy are done on a boat. The measurement frequency is choosen according to map the bottom of the lake or river or the top of sedimentary layers.
  • The measurement is controlled by a notebook computer. It saves the echosounder and tachymeter data as geographic coordinates of the earth and/or the bottom level.
  • The graphical display and/or the evaluation of data is done by CAD programs. Data can be delivered in several formats including CAD, ASCII, REB DA66 (cross profile data).

  • Tachymeter: Applied by  GeoPlan GmbH. Geodimeter of Spectra Precision. Accuracy 1 mm during single measurements using the prism stick / 1 cm during automatic targeting of the echosounder. Wireless telemetry of coordinates into the notebook computer.
  • GPS: Accuracy similar to tachymeter. Specific advantages in mapping huge areas, like lakes.
  • Echosounder: Echograph from Dr. Fahrentholz, Kiel (Germany). Accuracy in depth measurement 1 cm. Minimum depth only 10 cm by using of a twin transducer system. Measuring frequency 15 kHz and 200 kHz. Smart electronics with automatic identifying of false echos and digitizing. Paper plot for quality control. Data port into the notebook computer.
  • Notebook: in a weatherproofed protection case. Controls the measurement and saves all data.
  • Software: Geo_Echo developped by Geophysics - Dr. Rauen. Very easy handling of results: All data of one location is saved in one data file. Variable fitting for many goals. Filtering of depth data is possible. Different data formats. Easy and intuitive user interface. Runs under Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2000 (Trade marks).
  • Boat: Own plastic boat with motor. Electric motor in ecologic sensitive areas is possible. The complete measurement equipment is easy to handle and can be installed in another boat in a very short time.
  • Results: Plotting in digitized or scanned plans and maps. Crossing profiles can be choosen. Digital topography models with countour lines and 3D plots (grid models).
